Elberton, GA (PRWEB) May 25, 2013
Rehabmart.com, an online e-commerce company that sells rehabilitation and medical supplies, has recently joined into a distribution partnership with NAFRA to offer their patent-pending Comfort-Caddy Wound Drainage Tube Pouch System to a larger consumer market. Designed by a cancer survivor to make recovery easier for surgical patients, the Comfort-Caddy is a multi-pouch storage and carrying solution specifically intended to hold wound drainage tubing following surgical procedures that require the use of closed wound drainage systems. As someone who has personally been through surgeries requiring this drainage system, Gwen Persichetti, the co-inventor of the Comfort-Caddy, found that even the simplest everyday tasks became extremely difficult.
Trying to sleep would be painful, said Persichetti, CEO of NAFRA. The slightest movement would cause pulling and tugging and tearing at the wound area where the drain tubing exited the body. And any other simple function we all take for granted, such as walking, going to the bathroom, and showering became a terrible chore. Persichetti worked with her husband to develop the first handmade prototype of what would eventually become the innovative Comfort-Caddy, which did help solve a lot of these issues for her after her second surgery. Because she wanted others to benefit from this brilliant solution, she partnered with Frank Piraino to further develop this product and make it a reality for every patient undergoing closed wound drainage. With his product development expertise and experience in prominent positions held in Fortune 500 companies, he added imperative and practical leadership and stability to get this helpful new product launched and into the hands of the public.
Improving upon Persichettis original design to make the product adaptable for multiple applications and surgical procedures, the Comfort-Caddy offers multiple pouches to specifically store surgical drainage tubes and bulbs to stop them from pulling at the wound site and to prevent tearing and leaks. These pouches can also be utilized to carry toiletries which allow the user to shower or attend to bathroom activities with both hands free. This system can be discreetly worn under clothing, and comes with an adjustable neck strap and an adjustable Velcro belt that allows users to tie it around the legs, arms or waist.
Constructed of 100% polyester mesh, the Comfort-Caddy is comfortable, lightweight and dries quickly after a shower or bath. We are very excited to introduce more consumers to the helpful Comfort-Caddy from NAFRA, said Hulet Smith, OTR/L, MBA and CEO of Rehabmart. Any patients who undergo a surgical procedure that requires a closed wound drainage system should use this incredibly helpful solution. Many doctors and healthcare providers are singing the praises of the Comfort-Caddy, from department heads of general surgery to wound care nurses. Their extremely favorable feedback asserts that the convenience of this device in managing multiple drains, the prevention of pain and the improvement in the quality of life for post-surgical patients all combine to make the Comfort-Caddy a very worthwhile and long-awaited product.
As an Occupational Therapist, the founder of Rehabmart, Hulet Smith, has the breadth of knowledge and experience necessary to match the needs of his customers with the very latest innovative products in the field of medical supplies and rehabilitation equipment. As a parent of special needs children, he has a personal interest in finding the best products to improve the lives of those who are disabled and medically challenged.
