Tulsa, Okla. (PRWEB) November 29, 2012
The economy is recovering, but a new survey shows families are still shopping for deals and remain as bargain conscious as ever. Saving a few dollars is chic and shopping at second-hand stores is cool, the research shows.
While families can afford to buy more gifts this year, 99.6-percent say theyre still shopping at consignment events and resale shops, according to a survey by Just Between Friends, the nations leading children and maternity consignment event. Twenty percent of Americans say they shop at consignment and resale shops more than ten times a year.
Even if you can afford to pay more, why would you? At JBF consignment events, you can buy the same thing youd find in department stores for 50 to 90-percent off, explained Shannon Wilburn, President and CEO of Just Between Friends Franchise Systems, Inc. I think the recession showed people they dont need to pay a lot for quality clothes and other items for their kids and for new and expectant moms. Your dollar goes a long way at a consignment event.”
The survey also shows that most people have permanently changed their spending habits. More than half of the respondents say they started pinching pennies after the recession began in 2008. While they are earning more today, they still want discounts year-round.
People dont have to wait for something to go on sale, for a weekend-day special or shop at midnight to save at JBF, Wilburn said. They know at every single consignment event, they get great bargains on kids gear and clothing. No coupons needed. Even better, most of the money goes back into the pockets of the families who consign at JBF, Wilburn said.
A leading retail analyst says this holiday season shoppers remain zealous for a deal.
“We are still addicted to heavy promotions,” Darren Duber-Smith, Metro State marketing professor, told the Denver Post on November 23rd. “This trend started with the recession and never let up.”
Just Between Friends surveyed more than 5,000 people. The average respondent is between 30 and 39 years old and more than half earn between $ 50,000 and $ 100,000 a year. JBF has 124 franchises in 24 states. Each hosts a big community consignment event twice annually, reaching more than 400,000 families nationwide.

Read this latest announcement about: Consignment Stores
Mesquite, TX (PRWEB) September 29, 2013
Just Between Friends is the nations largest group of consignment sales and has hundreds of participating consignors and shoppers throughout Dallas/Ft. Worth. Just Between Friends (JBF) specializes in everything from strollers, baby furniture, clothes, toys, and more.
JBF Dallas has two major sales each year: one in the spring and one in the fall. Co-owners Susan Newhouse and Stacey Losher have a large following of consignors and shoppers in many cities surrounding the Dallas/Mesquite area.
Most gently worn items at the sales are estimated to sell at 30-90% off their retail price, and moms consigning their items typically get 60-70% of the sale price, higher than many other second hand shops.
“Its a great way to clean out closets and make some money at the same time,” said Crandall mom of three Angela Mead. “JBF is a win-win and a great resource for my family.”
All items and equipment that are sold at the Just Between Friends sales are thoroughly inspected by expert volunteers for holes, tears, stains, and factory recalls. JBF also rewards moms that consign, volunteers, teachers, and first-time moms with early shopping days.
Its a great way to pass on well taken care of items to other moms. Kids grow so fast; you can barely keep up with their growth in clothes or their interests in toys before you need new things. The biggest items at the sale, such as strollers, car seats and cribs, are the ones that sell the quickest, but hundreds of moms shop through the weekend.
“We are still very excited to be doing these sales after 10 years in Dallas,” said Newhouse. “We love helping moms pass on these things that other moms need for their children. Its a great way to make it more cost-effective for everyone and share a little wisdom from mom to mom.”
The Fall 2013 sale begins Thursday October 3, 2013 and runs through Sunday October 6, 2013 at the Mesquite Convention & Expo Center located at 1700 Rodeo Dr. Mesquite, TX 75149.
Thursday, October 3rd: 10am-6pm: $ 3 admission fee
Friday, October 4th: 10am-6pm: Free Admission
Saturday, October 5th: 10am-6pm: Free Admission
Sunday, October 6th: noon-6pm: Half Price Sale – Free Admission
